Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how information about you is collected, used, and shared when you visit annadanes.com (the "Site"). The Site is operated by Anna Danes ("we," "us," or "our"). We care about your privacy and aim to be clear about what we collect and why.

Who we are & how to reach us

For any privacy question, or to exercise any of the rights described below, contact us at contact@annadanes.com.

Information we collect

Information you give us directly.

  • Newsletter sign-up: when you join our mailing list, we collect your email address (and your name, if you provide it). This is handled by our email provider, Mailchimp.

  • Contact form: when you message us through the Site, we collect your name, email address, the subject you select, and your message, so we can respond.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, certain information is collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies:

  • Squarespace (our website platform): our Site is hosted by Squarespace, which collects standard analytics and security data such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring site, and interactions, and sets cookies (for example to prevent fraud and to measure visits).

  • Google Analytics 4: we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site (pages viewed, approximate location, device, and general usage patterns). Google Analytics sets cookies and processes this data on our behalf. You can opt out across all sites using Google's browser add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

  • Fonts: the Site loads typefaces from Adobe Fonts (Typekit) and Google Fonts. When fonts load, these providers may receive your IP address and technical information in order to serve the fonts.

Cookies and your choices

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use:

  • Essential cookies — required for the Site to work (e.g., security).

  • Analytics / non-essential cookies — help us understand site usage (Squarespace Analytics, Google Analytics).

When you first visit, a cookie banner lets you Accept all, Decline all, or Manage your preferences, and you can change your choice at any time. In regions that require prior consent (such as the EU and UK), non-essential cookies are restricted until you accept them. You can also control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect how the Site works.

How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • operate, maintain, and secure the Site;

  • send you our newsletter and updates, if you have signed up (you can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email);

  • respond to your inquiries sent through the contact form;

  • understand and improve how the Site is used.

How information is shared

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers that help us run the Site and our communications — namely Squarespace (hosting, analytics, forms), Google (analytics), Mailchimp (email), and Adobe/Google (fonts) — each acting on our behalf or under their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information if required by law.

Links to other services

The Site links to third-party services, including our music pre-save/streaming links (Linkfire, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, Deezer, Tidal) and social media (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube). When you follow those links, the destination's own privacy policy governs your data there. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites.

International visitors

We are based in the United States and our service providers are primarily located in the United States. If you visit from outside the U.S. (including the EU and UK), your information will be processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

EU / UK (GDPR / UK GDPR): the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our use of your information; the right to data portability; and the right to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. Our legal bases for processing are your consent (for analytics and marketing) and our legitimate interests or steps taken at your request (for responding to inquiries and operating the Site).

California (CCPA/CPRA): the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, the right to access and delete it, the right to correct it, and the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals. You will not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@annadanes.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

Email & marketing

Every newsletter we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. We send email only to people who have signed up.

Children's privacy

The Site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here — for example, newsletter data until you unsubscribe, and contact-form messages for as long as needed to handle your inquiry and our records — unless a longer period is required by law.

Security

We use reasonable measures, and rely on the security practices of our service providers, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be reflected on this page.
